Dook’ o’ Ooshid
Office and Retail Center – Tuba
City, Arizona
The
Dook’ o’ Ooshid project
was named after the Navajo translation
for the San Francisco Peaks which dauntingly
rise more than a mile above the surrounding
pine forests and grasslands of northern
Arizona and are a prominent feature of
the southern Colorado Plateau. Significant
to this development, this was the first
Bureau of Indian Affairs guaranteed construction
project to be built on the Navajo Nation
in 51 years, and was the first joint
ventured project accepted by the Navajo
Nation. Consisting of 24,000 square feet
of office and retail space, this development
houses Navajo government offices in addition
to a Subway Restaurants shop and Dragon
Bowl.
